Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
