The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ “Measure in full, and do not be of those who reduce.” 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 Wrong not mankind in their goods, and do not evil, making mischief, in the earth. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
