The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a few from later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
