The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
