The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
