Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
