So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 This lies on a road that still survives. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
