The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 The unbelievers-- there is none to avert it-- 2 From Allah, Owner of the ascending steps. 3 The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They deem it to be remote. 6 but We see it is nigh. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 And his spouse and his brother. 12 And his kin that harboured him 13 and all those on earth. 14 By no means! for it would be the Fire of Hell!- 15 Flaying off the scalp-skin. 16 It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), 17 and who accumulated wealth without spending it for a good purpose. 18 ۞ VERILY, man is born with a restless disposition. 19 If evil befalls him he is perturbed; 20 And when good toucheth him he is begrudging. 21 Except the observers of prayer - 22 Those who are regular in their prayers. 23 And those in whose wealth there is a known right, 24 For the petitioner and the deprived - 25 And those who believe the Day of Judgement to be true. 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - 27 For their Lord's displeasure is the opposite of Peace and Tranquillity;- 28 those who preserve their chastity 29 except from their spouses and those whom they rightfully possess [through wedlock], for which they incur no blame -- 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 And those who fulfil their trusts and covenants, 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 And those who guard their Salat (prayers) well. 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35
