The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked round; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
