He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
