The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
