The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, 1 (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise). 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 No knowledge whatever have they of Him, and neither had their forefathers: dreadful - is this saying that comes out of their mouths, [and] nothing but falsehood do they utter! 5 Yet perchance, if they believe not in this tiding, thou wilt consume thyself, following after them, of grief. 6 Lo! We have placed all that is on the earth as an ornament thereof that We may try them: which of them is best in conduct. 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Did you know that the People of the Cave and People close to the Woods, were Our exceptional signs? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
