The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
