The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By heaven and the night-star! 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
