Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
