And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 And We rescued him and his household from the great calamity. 76 And made his progeny survive, 77 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: 78 Peace be with Noah among all men in the worlds. 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. 81 Then afterwards We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ AND, BEHOLD, of his persuasion was Abraham, too, 83 When he came to his Lord, with a sound heart. (Free from falsehood). 84 and [thus] spoke to his father and his people: "What is it that you worship? 85 Is it a falsehood-god beside Allah that ye desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 He looked up at the stars. 88 and said, "I am sick!" 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" 92 then he turned on them, striking them down with his right hand. 93 Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him). 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 And Allah has created you and what you make. 96 They said, “Construct a building (furnace) for him, and then cast him in the blazing fire!” 97 And they devised a plot for him, but We made them the humble. 98 Abraham said: “I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 (And he prayed:) "O Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 (In response to this prayer) We gave him the good news of a prudent boy; 101 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 We called to him, "O Abraham, 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 That was indeed a trying test. 106 And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: 107 and We preserved for him a good name among posterity. 108 Peace be on Ibrahim. 109 Thus, do We reward the righteous ones. 110 He is truly among Our faithful creatures. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Herald of the Hidden, from among those who deserve Our proximity. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself. 113
