Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who are wrapped up in your mantle, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
