He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
