Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is cleft asunder, 1 when the stars are scattered, 2 When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth; 3 and when the graves are laid open: 4 every human being will [at last] comprehend, what he has sent ahead and what he has held back [in this world]. 5 O MAN! What is it that lures thee away from thy bountiful Sustainer, 6 Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee? 7 In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. 8 Not at all – but rather you deny the establishment of Justice. 9 But verily, over you (are appointed angels in charge of mankind) to watch you. 10 noble scribes 11 Knowing all what you may do. 12 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure, 13 whereas the wicked will be in Hell; 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 And they will not be able to keep away therefrom. 16 And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is? 17 Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? 18 [It will be] a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to another human being: for on that Day [it will become manifest that] all sovereignty is God's alone. 19
