The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
