The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to thee every magician knowing. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He [Musa (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
