And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have completed shaping him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall you down before him in prostration." 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 until the day of a known time." 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
