Remember Noah when he called to Us before this. We heard him and saved him and those with him from great distress; 76 We helped him against people who rejected Our Signs: truly they were a people given to Evil: so We drowned them (in the Flood) all together. 77 And remember Dawud and Sulaiman, when they were deciding the dispute of a field, when some people’s sheep had strayed into it at night; and We were Present at the time of their deciding. 78 for, [though] We made Solomon understand the case [more profoundly] yet We vouchsafed unto both of them sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong]. And We caused the mountains to join David in extolling Our limitless glory, and likewise the birds: for We are able to do [all things]. 79 And We taught him the art of making garments (of mail) to protect you in your daring. Are ye then thankful? 80 And (We made subservient) to Sulaiman the wind blowing violent, pursuing its course by his command to the land which We had blessed, and We are knower of all things. 81 And of the rebellious people there were those who dived for him and did other work besides that, and We kept guard over them; 82 ۞ AND [remember] Job, when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Affliction has befallen me: but Thou art the most merciful of the merciful!" 83 Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers. 84 And (mention) Ishmael, and Idris, and Dhu'l-Kifl. All were of the steadfast. 85 We encompassed them in Our mercy; they were righteous people. 86 AND [remember] him of the great fish when he went off in wrath, thinking that We had no power over him! But then heeded out in the deep darkness [of his distress]: "There is no deity save Thee! Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! Verily, I have done wrong!" 87 We therefore heard his prayer and rescued him from grief; and similarly We shall rescue the Muslims. 88 And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors." 89 So We answered him, and bestowed on him John, and We set his wife right for him; truly they vied with one another, hastening to good works, and called upon Us out of yearning and awe; and they were humble to Us. 90 And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples. 91 Verily this community of yours is a single community, and I am your Lord; so worship Me. 92 And they have broken their religion (into fragments) among them, (yet) all are returning unto Us. 93
