The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They said, 'Surely unto our Lord we are turning. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
