The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
