And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. 33 And We have placed therein gardens of the date-palm and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein, 34 so that they may consume the fruits and whatever their hands prepare. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Holy is He who created all things in pairs; of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and other things which they do not know. 36 They have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day -- and they are left in darkness. 37 And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 It is not permitted to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day: each in an orbit, they float. 40 And a token unto them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 Had We wanted, We could have drowned them and nothing would have been able to help or rescue them 43 It is only by Our mercy that they are granted provision for a time. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 None of the signs of their Lord ever comes to them but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are quarrelling with one another. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
