O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 half the night, or a little less 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
