The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and give warning! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
