The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
