The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
