The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
