The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am devising guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
