And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
