Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
