Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
