۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
