The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
