The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Burning the skins! 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
