The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great tidings! 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
