Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
