Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
