[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do. 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
