The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
