The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a return for the insolent, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
