The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
