The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
