۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
