We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
