The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
