Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 Half of it, or lessen it a little, 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
